Phase 2 of the HCG diet starts immediately on day 3 of your HCG shots. You will begin your diet with an allowance of 500 calories per day. This phase of the HCG diet has 2 major meals which are on lunch and dinner. You will learn to address and introduce to your body the new food choices. You have to focus on your diet to be able to avoid the potential weight loss barriers.
What type of food will you consume each meal on the VLCD?
Each meal of the HCG diet must have protein, vegetables, and fruit. You can also add a Melba toast or Grissini. For your breakfast, you can only have a cup of tea or coffee to start your day. For meat choices, you can eat;
- Lean beef meat
- Chicken breast
For vegetable choices, you can have;
Fruit choices are only limited you can eat;

What kind of oil can you use during the VLCD?
You can use a small amount of coconut and olive oil. Frying foods or any oily foods are not allowed during this phase. However, you can use these choices if you have to.
Are you allowed to use salt during Phase 2 of the HCG diet?
Yes. Salt is allowed in a minimal amount or if it is needed. Take note that too much salt can raise water retention in your body. It can cause weight loss plateau or fluctuation.
What are the side effects of Phase 2 of the HCG diet?
There are mild side effects such as headache, nausea, irritability, or occurrences of hunger. These side effects do not occur very often or may not come at all. If you follow the protocol of the HCG diet you can experience positive effects such as fullness and rapid weight loss.
What other things you can do during the VLCD?
- Weigh yourself daily or keep a food journal with you

Can you exercise in Phase 2 of the HCG diet?
Yes. Exercising is still allowed during the HCG diet. However, it is not required to do especially if you are not comfortable with it. You can do light exercises such as walking, yoga, and jogging. The allowed time of exercise during this phase is 10 to 15 minutes.
What should you do if you hit a plateau?
When you hit a weight loss plateau you can try the apple day or the steak day. These two methods are helpful in busting weight loss plateau. A plateau is when your weight is the same for 3 days. It happens because of water retention or any other causes.
